Books to read: March TBR

After last month’s romance reading extravaganza (which was pretty fun!) I’m ready to add more variety to my reading life. It was fun having a theme for the month, and it did help me figure out which types of romances I enjoy.

Yet I usually prefer to change up what I read, so I’m looking forward to this list that has a little bit of everything: memoir, middle grade, literary fiction, and more. If you’re looking for some books to read this month, consider these for your to-be-read list (TBR) as well! Here’s what I plan to read in March.

A Wild and Precious Life by Edie Windsor. I’m reading this memoir because it was a suggestion for Book Riot for their “Read an LGBTQ+ history book” prompt for the 2021 Read Harder challenge. I wasn’t familiar with Windsor, who is known as a “marriage equality icon.” This is a memoir of her life in New York and her role in the gay rights movement in the 50s and 60s.

The Death of Vivek Oji by Awaeke Emezi. This is one I kept hearing about various places last year and knew it was one I wanted to pick up. I don’t know a lot about it, other than it being a story about a Nigerian family, but I’ve heard great things.

Just as I Am by Cicely Tyson. This memoir is the book club pick for the April discussion for the Bliss book club. I think Tyson’s life sounds fascinating, and I recently listened to an interview Oprah did with her and that made me want to read this even more.

When Stars Are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed. I’ve heard this middle grade graphic novel about growing up in a refugee camp, as told to the author by a former Somali refugee, is excellent. I would like to read more graphic novels, as well as more middle grade fiction, so this book feels like the perfect combination.

Don’t Overthink It by Anne Bogel. I struggle with decision-making in many areas of my life, and would describe myself as a chronic over-thinker. I think sometimes it’s my enneagram one-ness; I feel like every decision I make has to be the “right” one. I bought this book on a Kindle deal a while ago, and it’s about time I read it.
