March is here, and we’re approaching my favorite season: spring. You never know around here if it will come in March, or if this month will be cold and wintery. Usually what happens is that it’s a mix of both.

Here’s my monthly list of what I’m currently up to, and as usual I’m joining Anne’s linkup.

Choosing: my lineup of books to read this month. On Monday I shared my TBR list for March, and I’m excited about the variety after February’s all-romance theme. (Which I really did enjoy!)

Imagining: what travel will look like once we do that again. While we’ve done a few short road trips, I can’t wait until we can actually take a real vacation somewhere!

Our last vacation in Arizona, in 2019

Making: a lot of slow-cooker meals. Lately work has been very busy, and having dinner made in the slow cooker has been so helpful. A few favorites have been this Balsamic Glazed Pork and this Slow Cooker Posole.

Recommending: a show, for once! I don’t watch a lot of shows, but Aaron and I started watching Ted Lasso and we both love it. It’s funny and heartwarming, and I think it’s well-suited for just about anyone.

Wearing: lots of jeans + sweater combinations. I’ve reached the point in winter where I’m pretty tired of wearing sweaters all the time, and yet, that’s all I’m wearing these days. We’ve had a few hints at spring weather that make me excited for lighter layers.

February Favorites

  • Book: East of Eden by John Steinback. While I loved all the romance I read last month, I think I will always be a literary fiction gal at heart. This one lives up to it’s status as a must-read classic.
  • Children’s book: Adventures with Waffles by Maria Parr. I read this one to both Jona and Violet, and we all enjoyed it. It’s a sweet story about friendship, but the two main characters got into enough trouble together to keep everyone listening to find out what would happen next.
  • Recipe: Skillet Sweet Potato Burrito Bowls. I’m a big fan of any “bowl” meal, but Aaron and I were both surprised by how much we loved this one–mostly because sweet potatoes aren’t a favorite for either of us. But these had great flavor, and the sweet potatoes were really good!
  • Gift: For Valentine’s Day, Aaron surprised me by booking a stay in a nearby hotel later this month. We haven’t stayed at a hotel since before the pandemic, so I’m curious about what it will be like, and hoping that we’ll have nice weather so we can do some outdoor dining! We are long overdue for a date night, so I can’t wait.

What have you been up to lately? Do you have any favorites from February?
