It’s February and I am here for it. We’re one month closer to spring, it’s the first full month with our newly-elected President, and (hopefully) we’re getting closer to more people getting the COVID vaccine, and therefore closer to some sort of normalcy. Fingers crossed.
As always I’m joining Anne for her monthly Currently linkup. Here are a few things I’m up to so far this month.
Loving: time spent by the fire. We lived in our house for five years without using our wood-burning fireplace–we had it inspected after we moved in and thought it needed major repairs before we could use it. Last fall we had it inspected again, with a different company recommended by a friend, and it turns out our fireplace is fine! We’ve been enjoying a crackling fire ever since.
Reading: romance in February. If you saw my February TBR post, you saw my list of five romance books I hope to read this month. I think it will be fun! I still need to finish my current read, East of Eden, before I can get started.
Remembering: this time last year, before we knew what was coming. It’s so strange to think about this time last year, when we were just going about our lives with no idea what was to come. I was looking at photos I had from a big work meeting we had in January of 2020, and it just seems like another life.
Sharing: all things book-related on Facebook and Instagram. I (finally) created a Facebook page for my blog, so I’ve been having fun sharing posts and bookish articles over there. I’d love for you to go give it a “like”! On Instagram I’m trying to figure out my groove–I share what I read, but I’m still trying to figure out what else to do there.
Wishlisting: new earrings and new nail colors. It’s been way too long since I’ve treated myself to a pair of Nickel and Suede (my favorite) earrings, but this adorable red heart pair is calling my name! I couldn’t pick just one thing this month though, because I’m also wishing for some new nail colors from Olive & June. Aaron gifted me a manicure set for Christmas and I want to try a few more neutrals.
January favorites
- Book: Hannah Coulter by Wendell Berry. Ahh, I loved this quiet, contemplative book so much.
- Children’s book: The Wild Robot Escapes by Peter Brown. Jona and I read the first book, The Wild Robot, last year, and both of them were fantastic.
- Recipe: Thai Mango Chicken Red Curry with Coconut Rice. Aaron and I both LOVED this, and even Jona liked the rice and sauce. (Violet wasn’t a fan though.) It had so much flavor and was pretty quick to make.
- Purchase: This Read Books and Fight the Patriarchy tote from Inkwell Threads.
