monthly highlights and currently {july}

Happy July! We always start the month with celebrations: our (fourteenth!) anniversary is today, the first, then the fourth of July, then Aaron’s birthday is the fifth. So it seems appropriate to start off the month with some highlights, as well as a few things I’m currently up to for Anne’s linkup.

{loving} this pic of Miss Personality

{cooking} flank steak with chimichurri. We try to have a little “date night in” once a week, and this has been our favorite meal lately.

{photographing} mirror selfies. I recently got a new mirror for our bedroom (our tiny cheap full-length mirror needed a replacement!) and have been having fun sharing #ootd shots on Instagram/stories.

{sharing} my workspace. It’s been really strange working from home for so long. Aaron is a teacher, so he is not working right now, and Jona is home as well. I’ve had a couple of conference calls with a bored kid sitting next to me.

{trying} to get Jona to want to read. His reading came a long way in first grade, but he still doesn’t want to read much on his own, despite being perfectly capable of doing it. We’re still doing lots of read-alouds, and I may try to get him going on audiobooks, in the hopes that one of these days he’ll be motivated to pick up a book–or anything beyond a Lego catalog or instruction manual–on his own.

{wondering} when and if I will go back to our office to work. In some ways it’s nice to be able to work from home, but in many ways it’s been more difficult.

{listening} to the Forever 35 mini-episode on friendship. They brought in a friendship coach, and it was so interesting to listen to her perspective.

{learning} about spiritual bypassing from First Name Basis. I have learned so much from Jasmine, the host of the podcast, and this episode was no different!

{reading} Clap When You Land. Although hopefully by the time this posts I’ll have finished it so I can join an online book club to discuss it!

What have you been doing lately?
