I remember trying a maxi dress for the first time. I was in sixth grade and obsessed with teen fashion magazines, so when it was time for back-to-school shopping I let Seventeen dictate my choices (despite being a bit younger than their target audience). I don’t remember much about my dress of choice, but I do remember a boy asking me why my dress was so long. (That was the first of many realizations that boys are clueless.)
I don’t think maxi dresses have really gone out of style since those days (or I’m so old I don’t remember), and I am still here for them. I picked up this black and white print one earlier this summer and I’ve worn it a lot.
Here are a few different ways to wear it now, or for early fall.
{knotted maxi dress with wedges}
I love knotting the bottom of a maxi dress to make the hem a little more interesting. This is great too if you’re petite and your maxi dresses always hit the floor.
{maxi dress with a knotted tee and sneakers}
Because this maxi is a slip dress style, it’s easy to put a tee shirt over it to wear it like a skirt. Honestly, I wear it like this the most to avoid having to wear a strapless bra.
{maxi dress for early fall}
It’s still pretty hot around here, but for slightly cooler days, I love a maxi dress with a cardigan and mules.
Have you always been a fan of maxi dresses? How do you wear yours?
