weekly highlights {21}

That feeling of living in a world without time got a big shakeup last week; all kinds of stuff happened in my world. My boss called and asked me to come back to work (from home), then I got strep throat, and on top of all that it was Jona’s last week of first grade. I feel like that’s a whole month’s worth of excitement in one little week.

While those are the major life events from last week, I have a few other highlights worth sharing as well.

Our first family shopping trip since March – to buy some flowers!

{eating}

  • Roast chicken – I always forget how easy whole roast chicken is until I actually make one. It takes a while to cook but the hands-on time is minimal.
  • Shrimp Mango Stir-fry – Mmm, I loved this mix of sweet, salty, and spicy flavors.

{reading}

  • Sourdough – This book about a woman whose life is transformed by a sourdough starter was smart, funny, and delightful.
  • Just Mercy – If your heart is fragile right now, don’t read this… but promise you will eventually. I listened on audio and thought I knew what to expect. It still blew me away.
  • Love Lettering – After having my heart ripped open by Just Mercy, I needed something light, and this fun romance was absolutely perfect. I’m not a big romance reader, but it was just what I needed.

{loving}

  • Penguins at the museum – Oh Kansas City, I love you. Penguins from the Kansas City zoo got to take a special trip to the Nelson Atkins museum to see some art. Watch the video if you need a pick-me-up, it won’t let you down!
  • New blog design! – After blogging for over 10 years (!) I decided to migrate my blog from Blogger to WordPress. I worked with Pipdig for the migration and new theme, and I couldn’t be happier!

What’s been making your life a little happier lately?
