Three Staples for Spring – 9 Looks

When I made the prompts for this week’s outfits on my #LYBLforLess calendar, I unknowingly included three things that have been on my “spring staples” list for a long time: a jean jacket, chambray, and a vest. In fact, the pieces that I’m featuring in the below looks have all been in my closet for years, and they’re still among my closet favorites. Trends are fun, but you can’t go wrong with the classics. Here are a few ways I’ve previously styled this week’s prompts.

Chambray is right up there with stripes on my “things I’m addicted to” list. It’s so wearable and versatile, and is perfect in any season. My chambray button-up is one of the most-worn items in my closet. It’s great on its own, but also works well as a layering piece.

I love the simplicity of a dress–it’s an instant outfit that doesn’t require a lot of effort. I also love adding this cargo vest to pretty much everything. Put the two together and it’s spring outfit perfection.

{jean jacket}

I don’t know exactly how long I’ve had my jean jacket, but it goes back at least to my college days, maybe even before that. I remember paying full price for it at Gap, and thinking it was such a splurge, especially back then. If I only knew that by now, the cost per wear is so low that it’s nearly zero, I wouldn’t have hesitated even a second before buying it.
