2018 in Review

Happy last day of 2018! I can't believe this year is almost over. I'm always excited for the start of a new year, but I don't want to start thinking about 2019 before I take some time to reflect on 2018.

Favorite Books Read in 2018

Things have been pretty quiet around here this month, but despite the hustle and bustle of Christmas I had to join the Show Us Your Books linkup to share my favorite books of the year. Since I read a mix of new and old books, this list includes all the books I read this year, not just books published in 2018. Also, since I've been reading a lot of both fiction and nonfiction, I split up my list and picked favorites for each.

Olive Jeans with Neutrals

It's hard to believe that Christmas will be here in just a week! I feel a bit more last minute this year, but I think I'll have everything done in time. Things have been quieter on the blog this month, but I decided not to make blogging one more thing to add to a list of so-called obligations. I want to focus on the holiday season and on family right now, so I gave myself permission to slow down a bit everywhere else.

It's been a minute since I've shared a style post, but I wanted to share this look from a day off spent with errands and appointments. I hadn't planned this as a "blog look"--it's nothing special, but despite the casual pieces I really liked how it came together.

The grey peplum tee and the olive jeans are two recent favorite purchases. The grey tee especially I've been wearing a ton--it is the perfect laying piece that is perfect under just about every cardigan and jacket I own. And the long sleeves give a bit more warmth, which is nice. I've also had olive jeans on my wish list for some time now, and when Old Navy did a promotion on all their jeans recently, I picked these up. They are perfectly soft and stretchy, and I like the darker olive shade.

Are there any recent buys you've been enjoying? Any other fun things you've been up to this month?

Black cardigan: Gap Outlet (similar) | grey peplum tee: Caslon, Nordstrom | olive jeans: Old Navy | earrings: Nickel and Suede | scarf: J.Crew via ThredUp (similar) | slip-on sneakers: Loft (similar)

In My Library Tote: November Book Reviews and Recommendations

I am so glad to be back to blogging, normal life, and talking about books! I mentioned last week that I caught a bug, well the "bug" ended up being strep throat and let me tell you, it knocked me out! I haven't had that since I was a little kid, but getting it as an adult was not fun. Thankfully I am healthy now and crossing my fingers that no one else gets it. Anyway, here's what I read last month. I'm happy to report that I enjoyed almost everything I read, only one dud in the bunch!

Currently: December

Happy December! While I feel like November went really fast, with Thanksgiving falling on the early side I've been ready to kick off the holiday season for a while now. I'm joining Anne to share a few things I'm Currently up to for the month. I had planned to share my goals as well, but I've been taken down by a not-so-fun bug and this was the only part of the post I'd planned ahead.
