Fall Hair Care with Beauty Brands

As you know I’ve been working with the hair experts at Beauty Brands, and I went to see my stylist Ame over the weekend. Despite the decidedly un-fall-like weather, I’ve had fall on the brain lately. (I bought a wreath for our door, some fall hand soap, and I even made soup on Sunday!) So a trim and style freshen-up for fall sounded perfect as well.

At my Beauty Brands visit on Saturday, Ame washed and trimmed my hair. I told her it was starting to feel a little heavy at the bottom, so she lightened it up and used (magical!) thinning shears to give me some more volume on top. I have thick hair, so as it grows out it’s a challenge to keep it from getting too weighed down. At home I let my hair air dry, so it was such a treat to have a professional blow out! My hair felt so smooth and looked so shiny. She finished by styling with large, soft curls all over. The change wasn’t anything dramatic, but just those slight updates made me feel great!

As she cut and styled my hair, I asked Ame about fall and winter hair care. I typically change my skincare routine for fall and winter and wondered if I should do that for my hair as well. She told me that, like skin, hair needs more moisture in the colder months as well. Before I left I decided to treat myself to some Moroccan Oil to get a little of that moisture! We also chatted about fall hair styles, and she mentioned that a lot of people choose warm hair color in the fall. My color is still looking good thanks to the low-maintenance color Ame chose at my first visit, but we made a game plan to add in some richer, darker hues before the holiday season. I can’t wait!

I have had such an excellent experience working with Beauty Brands. They truly are the experts when it comes to hair care. I wanted to share a few takeaway tips for getting the most out of your salon experience.

– To successfully recreate your look at home, be sure to ask your stylist to show you, step-by-step, the styling process. Ask her about the tools she uses as well.

– Don’t be afraid to ask about the products she is using, when to use them, and how much to use. Your stylist can tell you which products will have the most impact as well. For example, I really wanted my curls to have more staying power, so Ame recommended this spray from Kenra and I love it!

– Tell your stylist about your everyday hair care routine so that she can tailor your cut and style to your life. I wash my hair at night and let it air dry, so Ame let me know which products would make the most difference and which to skip. She also chose a color and style that would fit my busy life as a working mom–I don’t have time for fussy hair!

Styled by me at home. Not bad! Thanks for the tips Ame!

Will you be making any updates to your hairstyle or your hair care routine for fall?
