Currently: September

Hey there September! The older I get the more I embrace the changing of seasons, so I’ve come to love September. It still feels like summer yet there are hints of fall all around as well. (Target, I am NOT ready for Halloween decorations though. Why???) I’m ready to start thinking about cardigans and fall shoes and making the switch from white to red wine. At the same time, I don’t want to wish away the long days or delicious summer produce. September is a month of in-between, and I’m learning to appreciate its in-between-ness.

As always, I’m joining Anne for her monthly currently linkup. Here’s what I’m currently up to.

{starting} new routines. School has been in session for a few weeks now, Violet is back at daycare, and Aaron and I are getting the feel of our new jobs. My workday starts a little later now because of daycare/kindergarten drop off timing, and I’ve been loving the extra time that gives me. For now I’ve just been enjoying some extra morning reading and quiet time, but I’ve been considering trying to incorporate some yoga a few mornings a week.

{buying} a few bright additions for fall. Accessories and shoes are my favorite ways to add color to a look, and I’ve been gravitating towards bright bold colors this month. First I picked up August’s earring of the month from Nickel and Suede (my fave!) which was a bold yellow, and on my last Target run I couldn’t resist these hot pink mules. I tend to wear a lot of denim and neutrals in the fall, but pieces like these will keep things interesting.

{sharing} work style on Instagram. Lately Instagram has been my go-to source for style inspiration, and it’s also my favorite place to share my daily looks. I usually share my work looks Monday through Thursday when I’m in the office, but I’m hoping to get better about sharing weekend looks too.

{reading} The Secret History. My friend Becky chose this book for our book club this month, which worked out well because I’d been wanting to read it anyway. I’m only about a third of the way in and I haven’t decided how I feel just yet. So far I don’t have a character I’m rooting for, which can sometimes be a deal-breaker for me. However, a lot of trusted readerly friends have recommended it, so I remain hopeful.

{recording} faithfully in my book bullet journal. I’m not always the best at documenting. I cannot for the life of me make a yearly photo album, and I’ll often go entire weekends without sharing anything on social media. However, I have been a champ at keeping up with this book bullet journal I started this year, and I think it’s because I really enjoy doing it. I shared a post about it here, but basically I record books I’ve read, quotes I like, children’s books I’ve read with Jona, and picture books to read.
