How to Dress Comfortably in the Summer

I aim to look stylish and put-together, yet I consider myself practical above all else. If I know I’m going to be cold, I’ll bring a sweater. If I know I’ll be doing a lot of walking or standing, I’ll wear comfortable shoes. If an item of clothing is too fussy or too uncomfortable, I’ll banish it to the donate pile (or at the very least to the back of my closet).

In the summer, when it’s hot and sticky, the last thing I want is to be walking around in uncomfortable clothes. I live for casual tees and tops made of comfortable, breathable fabrics. I love this one I found at Old Navy recently because while it can be worn in an off-the-shoulder style, it doesn’t have to. My lifestyle is better suited to on-the-shoulder tops, no pulling or adjusting required.

I also adore skirts and shorts in a lightweight material with an elastic waistband. When an item of clothing feels like pajamas but looks like workwear, it’s a win-win. This skirt is from Loft last spring, but they have several options in a similar style this season as well (tropical version, pink floralblue floral border).
