Goals for August and a July Goal Recap

Each month I share my goals as a way to motivate myself to get things done and stay accountable. Here’s this month’s recap and the next month’s set of goals for my home, my blog, and my family and personal life.

July Goal Recap

Style the bookshelf and piano in our living room. I bought a couple of things, but not a lot caught my eye. I’ll keep looking for things to add (or possibly dig through boxes of books still in our basement…) but for now I want to move on to another space.

Find flow in my blogging life. Yes, while I don’t think I can say that I did this 100%, I did improve in using my time in a way that flowed better, rather than just going down a list and checking things off. I would like to continue to try to do this with all things, not just blogging.

Create a photo album for our Minnesota trip. This one is still in progress. I did purchase an album, supplies, and get the photos printed, and I have a few pages done. I underestimated how long this would take, but I’m hoping by the end of August I’ll have it done. I met up with Alexandra of Simply Alexandra and we talked about collaborating on a Project Life post sometime soon. If we do that I’ll share my Minneapolis trip album, so that gives me extra motivation to get on it.

I didn’t put it on the blog last month, but I set a reading goal for myself of 5 books for July, just like I did for June. Guys, I read 9 books in July! I think that may be a personal record… that is nuts, even for me! I’ve been a reading fool this summer.

August Goals

Choose fabric to reupholster dining room chairs and buy new placemats. I found our dining room table at a garage sale right after we bought our first house. It was in excellent condition, but the fabric on the chairs, which used to be off-white, has taken some real abuse. I’d like to find a durable, printed fabric to give new life to the much-used chairs. Similarly, adding new placemats is an easy way to freshen up our dining room table as well.

Improve my blog’s navigation. When I had to download a new template recently, I lost a few pages on my navigation bar at the top of my blog. I would like to figure out how to add those back, as well as work on making content easier to find. I really wish I were more knowledgable about the more technical side of blogging!

Finish my Minneapolis photo album. I have everything I need to get this done, the only thing standing in my way is time. I think if I do just a little bit every day, I can finish it by the end of the month at the latest.

What goals do you have for this month?
