Live Your Best Life (for Less) Week 4

Welcome to Week 4 of my Live Your Best Life for Less challenge. And what a week it’s been! Jona’s preschool had to close on Monday because so many teachers were out with a stomach bug, so I was home with him. Then Tuesday Violet’s babysitter was off so I was home with her all day. Thursday and Friday are my usual days to work from home, and those happened to be days that Aaron had evening commitments so they felt extra long, and extra challenging because work was extremely busy as well. To top things off, both kids caught some sort of virus and Jona’s been running a fever since Friday night. And I’ve been running on coffee, wine, and ice cream. (Sorry, Violet.)

Anyway, here are the prompts for week 4. I’d love for you to join me in any or all of these ideas, aimed at fostering more creativity, style, and contentment in your life.

{May 21} Weekly outfit inspiration. Stay tuned for a blog post this week for ideas for these prompts.

  • Favorite floral
  • White jeans + sneakers
  • Print on bottom

{May 22} Assess your summer closet. What do you need? Plan ahead and budget for it.

  • Tip: I keep a running list of “closet holes” on the Notes app on my phone, so if I’m out shopping and feel overwhelmed by all the things I like, I can just look at my list and stay focused.

{May 23} Budget Dinner @ Home: Homemade Crunchy Taco “Hamburger Helper” (from Iowa Girl Eats).

  • This is one of my family’s favorite meals. It’s super quick and easy to make, and easy to customize with whatever taco toppings you like.

{May 24} Update the photos at your work or home office. (Don’t forget your computer background!)

{May 25} Healthy Snack: Double Chocolate Granola Balls from Everyday Reading.

{May 26} – Start a Friday Night Pizza Night tradition to make eating in more fun (and takeout less tempting).

  • Tip: We’ve been doing this for last few weeks, and to keep from getting tired of pizza (is that possible?) we just change up the kind of pizza. Sometimes we make our own pizza on naan bread, and a couple of weeks ago we tried pizza-flavored grilled cheese sandwiches. Even Mr. Picky Jona likes pizza, so there’s at least one meal every week I can count on him eating.

{May 27} Breakfast/brunch at home: Make Cheesy Biscuits (from A Cup of Jo) with sausage or bacon and fruit.

If you try any of these, be sure to tag me (@shealennon) and use #LYBLforLess.
