Currently: May

I’m not sure if it’s the weather (although as I write it’s cold and rainy out) or just the fact that spring is my favorite, but I always feel extra inspired this time of year. As always, I’m joining Anne and her co-host this month, Nancy, to share what I’m currently up to.

{*no* baking} Oreo Peanut Butter Icebox Pie from Mix and Match Mama. Peanut butter and chocolate is one of my favorite dessert combinations, well, ever. This frozen pie is a super easy way to get your peanut butter + chocolate fix. The ingredient list is pretty short, and other than some waiting time it’s a snap to put together. Also, as someone who tends to overindulge my sweet tooth, the fact that it’s hidden away in the freezer (and not easy to just grab when I’m in the kitchen) helps me not to overdo it. Not that I ever do that…

{listening} to podcasts galore. My queue is getting a little out of control and I struggle to keep up with the new episodes, yet I still love finding new ones. Right now, a few favorites include Awesome With Alison (mentioned on my #LYBLforLess calendar), Spawned (from Cool Mom Picks), Sorta Awesome, and The Simple Show. And no, I haven’t finished S*Town yet–it’s on my list though!

{loving} dining alfresco. This week took a turn for the cold, but the past couple of weeks there have been several days where it’s been nice enough to eat dinner outside. Something about eating outside makes dinner always feel more special and fun. Plus, now that Violet is joining us at the dinner table (I wouldn’t really say she’s eating much just yet), eating outdoors makes for easy clean up!

{planting} little flowers for Jona and Violet. The kids each got a tiny little pot and daisy seeds in their Easter basket from my in-laws, and Jona is so excited to see little leaves sprouting from the ground. He asked just about every day for weeks when his flowers would grow, so it’s nice to finally see a little something in the pot (even if it did get a little waterlogged from all the rain we just had). 3 year olds and patience don’t always go together.

{remembering} Jona’s baby days. I just pulled a bin of old toys out from the basement for Violet, and I couldn’t help but think back to the days when Jona played with them. Although she looks just like he did as a baby, it’s amazing how different they are. Jona was fairly content to stay in one spot and play with whatever was near him, while Violet is on the move, rolling and scooting around constantly.

What have you been up to so far this month?
