Live Your Best Life {for less} Week 1

As I mentioned last week, every Sunday I’m going to share the coming week’s prompts for my Live Your Best Life (for Less) May calendar. I’d love for you to join me in any or all of these ideas, aimed at fostering more creativity, style, and contentment in your life.

  • {May 1} – Happy May! Find a free printable coloring page featuring flowers and color. Display somewhere you can see it every day.
  • {May 2} – Budget Dinner @ Home: Skillet Turkey Meatballs with Lemon Rice (from Mel’s Kitchen Café)
    • Money saving tip: Ground turkey is a great substitute for ground beef, but it’s often more expensive. I buy it when it goes on sale and keep it in the freezer until I’m ready to use it.
  • {May 4} – LYBL – Start a daily gratitude habit.
    • I’ve talked about how I started intentionally thinking about all the things that I’m thankful for while I’m taking a shower every night, and it’s really made a difference in my life.
  • {May 5} – Host a Cinco de Mayo potluck. You provide margaritas/other drinks, chips, and salsa, and have your friends bring the rest.
    • Entertaining can be expensive and stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. If you make it really casual, and have everyone bring something, it cuts both the cost and the stress level.
  • {May 6} – Try a budget grocery store (such as Aldi) for 2 weeks instead of your regular store and see if it saves you any money.
    • We started shopping at Aldi just before Violet was born and I can’t believe how much money it saves us. Before that our grocery budget was getting out of control–we were often spending close to $100 a week just on groceries. By shopping at Aldi we’ve been able to save around $20 a week, and I’ve been really happy with the quality of what I find there. I don’t get everything there (I often buy meat and some produce elsewhere), but I really do save on what I find.

If you try any of these, be sure to tag me (@shealennon) and use #LYBLforLess.
