Currently: December

Usually the first month with a new baby is the hardest. However, it’s the second month that is kicking my butt right now, so be patient with me as I try to fit blogging back into my life. Sharing what I’m currently up to is a good way to do just that.

I’m joining Anne, and her co-host Kellie, to share what I’m currently…

{doing} momming so hard. Jona went to daycare until Thanksgiving, but now he’s home with Violet and me until I go back to work in January. And boy is spending all day with an infant and a toddler exhausting! When it was just Violet and me, most days I could get quite a bit done, and maybe squeeze in a nap. These days I can practically hear my to-do list laughing at me. As for naps, about the time where I close my eyes because they’re both sleeping at the same time (a miracle!) someone wakes up, or my phone rings, or the laundry buzzes.

{enjoying} the holiday season. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday, but Jona is at an age that makes it even more fun. Last year he enjoyed it, but this year he really gets the concept of Santa and is so excited to go visit him. (One thing that hasn’t changed–he wants to ask him for books again. Is that my kid or what?) Plus, it’s Violet’s first Christmas, and that just adds to the special-ness of it all.

{cooking} easy weeknight favorites. The other night I made this Spicy Pork Pad Thai, which was delicious and pretty quick to put together. Other recent hits have been Sesame Chicken Noodle Stir Fry, Sausage Pasta, and Spaghetti Squash Enchilada Bowls (which I add ground beef to, to please the husband).

{wrapping} gifts in red and gold. I couldn’t resist this fun polka dot paper (and these gold swirls too) on my last Target run, so our gifts will be red and gold this year. Of course, I haven’t actually wrapped any yet… but I’ll get there. See “momming” above.

{playing} with puzzles and boxes. We got Jona a big 48 piece solar system puzzle for his birthday in August, and since then he’s been puzzle-obsessed. Some friends of ours also got him a set of 4 puzzles as a big brother gift, and lately he’s been doing those every day, sometimes more than once. I think I know something else Santa will be bringing this year. Also, thanks to all the online shopping we’ve been doing we have a bunch of boxes that have become boats and cars. A large part of Jona’s day is spent putting all his toys, animals, and blankets in the “boat”, climbing in himself, then taking everything out. Whatever keeps him entertained!

What have you been up to lately?
