August Goals and July Goal Review

Each month I share my goals as a way to motivate myself to get things done and stay accountable. Here’s this month’s recap and the next month’s set of goals for my home, my blog, and my family and personal life.

July Goal Recap

{Home}

1. Buy a rug for the living room. YES! On July 4th we took a little family trip to IKEA (how patriotic of us, ha!) and I found a bright yellow rug that was calling my name.

2. Hang pictures that we have. Nope, our poor walls are still pretty bare.

1. Reach out to 2 brands I’d like to work with. Yes, sort of. One brand I reached out to said they had previously contacted me on Instagram to collaborate, and I had no idea! (Clearly I need to adjust my notification settings!) Luckily they still agreed to work together despite the fact that I (unconsciously) ignored their request. The second one I haven’t yet heard back from.

2. Apply for an affiliate network. Yes, inspired by Jenn’s post on affiliate networks that I mentioned last month, I applied at Social Fabric and Collectively, and was accepted to both. I certainly don’t want to become a blogger who does nothing but sponsored posts (or even close to it!), but the idea of sharing about brands I already love and making a little money in the process sounds nice. Especially now that our budget will be even tighter come October…

{Family / Fun}

1. Go to garage sales. No, sadly I didn’t make it to any garage sales. However, some girlfriends and I did visit a few shops in the West Bottoms of Kansas City, a district that has a variety of home “stores” that range from warehouses of flea market-type finds to beautifully curated and refurbished treasures. I came home with a pretty lamp to go in my work-in-progress living room.

2. Try new ice cream place. Yes, I actually visited two new (to me) ice cream shops in Kansas City! We went to Betty Rae’s (in Waldo if you’re local) and and Foo’s Fabulous Frozen Custard. Both were delicious!

3. Research/contact photographers for family photos. Yes, we are scheduled for family photos with Jenna of Marianne Photography in early September. Here’s hoping my belly isn’t TOO huge just yet and that I still have ankles. I should have gotten on this one a little earlier this summer…

August Goals

{Home}

1. Hang pictures that we already have. Since I didn’t get that done last month.

2. Make a plan for what we need to buy for nursery, and start clearing out the room. Right now, the nursery serves as a catch-all space for anything we don’t know what to do with in our house. So we have some clearing out to do. We don’t need a lot, but there are a few (mostly decorative) things I’d like to get for the space too, so I need to make a plan and a budget.

{Blog}

1. Apply for campaigns on affiliate network(s)

2. Step up my Instagram hashtag game. I know that hashtags can be game-changers when it comes to gaining exposure on Instagram, so I need to get better about using them strategically.

3. Reach out to (at least) 1 brand.

{Family / Fun}

1. Start calling preschools and narrow down options for Jona for January. I will go back to work in January, so we thought that would be a good time to transition Jona to preschool. There are (luckily) many options in our area, I just need to start calling around and visiting.

2. Plan/have Jona’s 3rd birthday party. Well, if I get nothing else accomplished this month I know I’ll at least do this one! Invitations have been sent, so I need to get on it.

3. Try new hairstyles. When I decided to grow my hair out I stupidly optimistically thought I’d be trying out new styles left and right. Wishful thinking. I pretty much wear my hair the same way every day, so I need to start shaking it up a little. Otherwise what’s even the point of having long hair?

What are your goals this month?
