Striped Dress 2 Ways for Summer Heat

When it’s a million degrees outside (in June, mind you!) I look at my closet and want to throw about half of it out. I don’t want to layer, I don’t want anything thick, and don’t even want to think about putting on pants. So that leaves skirts, dresses, and lightweight tops, all three of which I’ve been living in lately.

One of my favorite dresses right now is this striped one from Old Navy that I got in my recent maternity haul. The stretchy knit is so comfortable, and the neutral color makes it perfect for styling multiple ways for multiple occasions. Just by swapping out a few accessories, this dress can go from dressy to casual in a flash.

In hot weather the last thing you want is lots of layers. Here's how I style one versatile striped dress two ways for summer heat.

My maternity wardrobe is fairly limited for dressier options, but with the right accessories this dress can easily be dressed up. For church over the weekend, I wore it with bold jewelry and flat sandals. However, if I wanted to dress it up even more I could swap the sandals out for heels.

For weekend errands and relaxing, I love the dress + slip-on sneaker combo, and it’s one I wear often. I like to keep my jewelry to a minimum when I’m out and about in the heat, so just a simple necklace and wrap bracelet do the trick. I’m trying to wear more bright lipstick this summer; it’s a fun way to add detail without any warmth.
