Goals for June and May Goal Review

Each month I share my goals as a way to motivate myself to get things done and stay accountable. Here’s this month’s recap and the next month’s set of goals for my home, my blog, and my family and personal life.

May Goal Recap

{home}

1. Hang crown molding in our living room. While we did go to Home Depot and price crown molding (or is it moulding… at the Depot I saw it spelled that way), we haven’t moved beyond that yet. However, Aaron said he would enlist a friend’s help to do this, so I may be off the hook for this un-fun home decor task.

2. Transition Jona to a big kid bed. YES. It’s been a bit of a roller coaster, but Jona is sleeping on his “big kid bed,” which is just a full sized mattress on the floor of his room (we’ll raise it when he’s a little older). The first week went surprisingly well, but about the time we started wondering what we were so worried about, the multiple middle-of-the-night wake-ups began. Luckily, he’s back to sleeping all night, but I’m not ready to say he’s completely comfortable. I’ll have to share a full update post soon.

1. Improve blog content and promote posts. I’d say this one is a work in progress. I’m working on both, but I haven’t had as much time to devote as I’d like.

2. Change up my photo backgrounds. Yes, I’m thankful that Aaron has been willing to venture beyond our yard and experiment with different locations (as seen here, here, and here).

{family / fun}

1. Plan a girls’ night. It’s terrible that I still haven’t made this happen! I’ve spent a lot of time with friends this month, but haven’t yet had a true girls’ night.

2. Make at least one salad on my Salads and Sandwiches Pinterest board. Yes, I made the Caprese Pasta Salad that I posted about last Friday

3. Plan a stay-in date night. It wasn’t the most creative, but Aaron and I did watch a movie together, which we don’t do often. We watched Silver Linings Playbook, something neither of us had seen but we both really liked. Also, we got a real date night in as well! We went to Frida’s Mexican restaurant and then, because we’re really romantic, went to Home Depot to price crown molding. #marriedlife

June Goals

{home}

1. Hang crown molding and buy a rug for our living room. I know this is two goals in one, but since I may not be actively involved in the crown molding portion, I want to at least do something for our living room this month.

2. Start making plans for the nursery. Luckily we won’t need to buy much furniture for the nursery, we’re just going to shift around some things we already have. Other than those plans, I don’t have a lot of ideas for paint and decor, so I hope to find some inspiration this month.

1. Start using checklist for posts and promotion. I made myself a little checklist to help me remember little things I need to do for each blog post I write, such as create alt text for my images (which I never remember to do) and schedule twitter posts. I’m hoping that having a list to refer to will help me remember these small, but significant, steps in creating a post.

2. Try out Snapchat. So, I created a Snapchat (I’m @shealennonblog). I haven’t used it. I don’t know why.  All you Snap-chatters let me know so we can be friends (and I can actually get started!).

{family / fun}

1. Make ice cream. No explanation needed, this just needs to happen.

2. Do a fun summer activity with Jona. I don’t have anything specific in mind, but even though I work full time even in the summer, I still want to make summer feel a bit more fun than the rest of the year. Do you do that too?

3. Plan a potty training weekend. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I think I’m going to try to just take a couple of days and kick off this whole potty training thing. I don’t have high hopes that it will magically happen in a two-day span, but I’m hoping it will at least be a good start. Pray for me.

What are your goals this month?
