May Clothing Budget

I mentioned last month that May is typically when I go crazy with the clothes shopping. For one, my birthday is at the end of April, so I have some money I’m itching to spend. Also, spring is my favorite season and I can’t resist the bright, colorful styles I see this time of year. Yet, while I did do some shopping, I didn’t go to crazy this month. Here’s what I bought.

{my clothing budget: May 2016}

Off Broadway Shoes – Michael “Patsy” black slide sandals: $11 (had a $10 birthday coupon)

Loft – Heathered Slip On Sneakers in Driftwood Grey: $12 (gray is sold out, but here’s the white version)

Loft – Striped Ankle Tie Espadrilles in Fresh Navy: $32

Loft – Maternity Roll Panel Skinny Jeans in White: $42 (demi panel version)

Total Spent: $97

So, shoes. I’m a shoe lover as it is, and my spring shoe wardrobe really needed an update. I planned to have more clothes mixed in, but it turns out this was the worst month for me to shop for clothes. As I mentioned in last Monday’s post, I’ve been at that awkward stage in between maternity and regular clothes. I grabbed the white jeans from Loft because they were on sale, and I know I’ll wear the heck out of them this pregnancy. I actually just placed a big maternity order at Old Navy while they had everything 40% off, so I plan to do a review post and of course share my purchases in next month’s budget.

This month I also had a $50 Target gift card courtesy of Denizen jeans. I tagged them in an outfit post on Instagram and ended up winning a contest I didn’t even realize I had entered! So thank you Denizen, for further encouraging my Target habit. Here’s what I bought with the gift card.

Mossimo gray stripe drapey tee: $15

Merona cognac Catalina slide sandals: $23

J. R. Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream: $8

{clothing budget for Jona: May 2016}

Gap – Stripe Pull-on Shorts in Elysian Blue: $8

Gap – Pull-on Shorts in Moonstone: $10

Gap – Stripe Pocket Tee in Vintage Navy: $9

Target – Circo gray pull-on shorts: $4

Target – Circo blue and white stripe tee: $4

Old Navy – Royals tee shirt: $11

Old Navy – red striped tee shirt: $5

Old Navy – blue striped tee shirt: $5

Old Navy – gray fish print tee shirt: $5

Old Navy – turquoise flip flops: $3

Old Navy – navy blue sandals: $12

Total spent: $76

I think I got quite a bit for $76, don’t you? Jona really needed clothes he could wear to daycare and play in, and all those tee shirts will be perfect. He doesn’t need much else right now, although I’d like to get him a few button-ups and polo shirts so he has I have a little more to choose from.

What did you buy this month, anything fun?
