Currently: May

I love starting a new month, but saying goodbye to April, my favorite of the dozen, is always a little bittersweet. However, I’m looking forward to the warm weather and longer days of May. As usual, I’m joining Anne and Jenna to share what I’m currently up to.

{celebrating} my birthday and a growing family. I’ve had a lot to celebrate lately, with my birthday last week and a baby coming in October. For my birthday, Aaron and I went to a Royals game with my best friend and her husband, and we followed up the Royals’ victory with delicious food at BRGR, a local burger joint. This past weekend, we celebrated again with family at Ponak’s, one of our favorite spots for Mexican food. Also included in the many days of celebrating: several ice cream outings and homemade red cake. Life is pretty good.

{reading} The Widow by Fiona Barton. Quite a change of pace from the last few books I read, this story is about a woman whose husband dies after being hit by a bus. She’s not the traditional grieving widow, because before he died, her husband had been accused of kidnapping a little girl. She stood by him when he was alive, but upon his death she’s no longer sure where she stands. I’ve been tearing through this one, trying to figure out what really happened.

{pondering} baby names. It’s a little early, as we have several months to decide, but I can’t help but think about potential names for the newest member of the fam. We’re pretty set on a boy’s name but can’t settle on a middle name. Yet we’re both completely stumped on a girl’s name. We should find out what we’re having at the end of this month, so I’m hoping knowing either way will help us make a decision. Hit me with your name ideas though, I’d love to hear some!

{sipping} fun sodas and sparkling juice. Before I was pregnant I looked forward to a nice glass of wine after I put Jona to bed each night. I love water, but I drink it all day long and like a little variety in my evening beverages. So I’ve been occasionally treating myself with unique sodas and sparkling juice (I love Izze Soda!), and sometimes even plain old Coke. It’s no Sauvignon Blanc, but it’s a nice change from (more) water.

{going} shopping! I had the day off last Friday and treated myself to a little shopping trip (courtesy of birthday money from the parents!). I found some shoes at Target and Off Broadway, and some clothes for Jona at Old Navy. I even had a little fun online with a sale at Loft (and found these cute espadrilles!). I’ll be sure to share my purchases later this month.

So, what are you up to right now?

Today I’m also joining in a birthday celebration for Ada at Elegance and Mommyhood, so be sure to check it out!
