Right now Kansas is confusing its weather metaphors. March is supposed to come in like a lion and go out like a lamb, but instead the month started pretty lamb-like, and lately we’ve definitely felt more lion around here (hello, snow on Easter Sunday!). We do have some warm weather on the horizon though, so I’m hopeful that the weather will start behaving like the metaphorically-correct animal soon.
Enough about lions and lambs, let’s talk stripes. I came across this red-orange striped shirt while perusing ThredUp recently, and while I don’t typically buy Target (or other already inexpensive) items second-hand, I couldn’t pass it up. It was a good decision; it’s already proven to be a versatile piece that’s perfect for the fickle weather this time of year.
In addition to this top, I added another striped piece to my wardrobe this month, also from Target: these cute mini-wedges. I know I’m not the only stripe addict out there—tell me, what was your most recent stripe purchase?

This kind of look is a go-to weekend look for me; the chambray shirt is the perfect lightweight layer when it’s too warm for a jacket. I also like how the stripes in these wedges are subtle enough that they’re not competing with the striped shirt–they’ll go with pretty much everything.

This top easily transitions from weekend to week day, and the longer length makes it perfect for tucking into a pencil skirt. I’m adding a scarf and ankle boots that would work for right now, but when it warms up I’d lose the scarf and trade the boots for sandals.
