Currently: August

August used to be a month that I grumbled about. August means summer’s nearing it’s end, that school’s back in session, and lots and lots of heat. However, it also brings the birthday of my favorite little boy, and this year it brings a new adventure of house selling and buying. So far, I have nothing but good things to say about August. Here are a few things I’m currently up to.

{creating} a menu and decorations for Jona’s dinosaur-themed second birthday party. Some days, I find it impossible to believe I have an almost two-year-old. Other days, when he’s throwing himself down on the floor because I threw away the ripped piece of paper he was playing with, I believe it. Jona has loved dinosaurs for some time now (roaring like a dinosaur was the first animal sound he learned!) so it made sense to make it the theme for his party. Plus, I found these cute but simple invitations from RV Parties that I couldn’t pass up (pic from the Etsy shop – don’t worry, I used the correct name on his invites!).

{wishlisting} skirts to go from summer to fall. While there are many things I’d love to add to my wardrobe right now, one thing I’d like to find soon is a skirt or two that will work both now and in the cooler fall months. I love this cute purple print one from Loft.

{hoping} our house sells quickly. I’ve said this before, but keeping a house neat, tidy, and “staged” with a toddler and a dog is no joke. Oh, and the thought of paying two mortgages makes me a little sick to my stomach.

{eating} on paper plates. Remember how I said August has been good so far? Well I can’t say the same about the end of July. The week before we put our house on the market, my car broke down, our lawnmower stopped working, and our dishwasher went out, all in a matter of days. Well the car’s fixed, Aaron’s working on the lawnmower, but as of now we still don’t have a dishwasher. Since we don’t want a sink full of dishes when we’re showing the house (and also because hand washing dishes is dreadful), we’re being lazy and using paper plates. Sorry trees… it’s only temporary.

{watching} baseball. I realize that we’re totally brainwashing our child, but when we turn on the game he immediately says “Royals baseball!” or “Let’s go Royals!” And although he has no idea who he’s cheering for, he’ll also shout “Nice hit Escobar” (not in context–just randomly) or “Let’s go Salvy!” Start ’em young.

What are you up to this month?
