Re-purpose Week: Dress as Top

Mondays are hard. They’re really hard after a long weekend, don’t you agree? I’m not complaining though, I’ll take an extra day or two on my weekend anytime.

Anyway, this week I’m talking about how I re-purpose different clothing items. Sometimes when I feel like I’m in a rut and have been wearing the same things lately, or I’m having one of those “I have nothing to wear” days, I’ll put something on in a new way and just see if it works. It doesn’t always, but often I’m pleasantly surprised by my little experiments.

Take this dress for example; it’s a great casual weekend dress, but (thanks to the dryer) it’s quite a bit too short for work. One morning as I was getting ready I realized that it had shrunk, so I pulled a skirt  (for work it was a different one than this) over it and saw that with the right skirt, it works as a top. Not only did I make it to work on time, but I also found a new way to wear this dress. Sometimes it’s the little things…

Do you have any tips or tricks for re-purposing your clothes?

Striped dress (as top): Old Navy | red skirt: J.Crew | belt: Target | jeweled sandals: Target

I couldn’t help myself–Jona looked so cute that I had to get him in on the outfit shot as well.

Chambray shirt: Gap | plaid shorts: Gap Outlet | slip-on sneakers: Old navy
