Goals for June and May Goal Review

This year, I started writing monthly goals on the blog as a way to motivate myself to get things done and stay accountable. Here’s this month’s recap and next month’s set of goals for my home, my blog, and my family or personal life.

May Goal Recap

1. Frame Print(s). Still a no. I’ve had this on my list the past two months and I still can’t manage to get it done. For some reason I cannot for the life of me remember this one. I need to set the prints out in all their unframed glory as a constant reminder.

2. Finish dining room shelves. I can almost cross this one off, but I’d still like to add one more thing to the top shelf (so that there are 3 things instead of 2, odds look better). My plan is to either do something with the one small canvas I have left (from #3 below) or scope out the summer garage sales for just the right doo-dad to put up there.

3. Complete one (or two!) artwork DIYs on my Pinterest boards. Done! See the two artwork DIYs that I completed here.

Blog

1. Pitch a brand or blog I’d like to collaborate with.  Yes! I contacted a local store I’d like to work with (although I’m still waiting to hear back) and I also applied and got accepted to Weave Made Media, an influencer market that I learned about at Go Blog Social in April. I have a few more collaboration ideas that I’d like to make happen in the coming year as well. Stay tuned!

2. Organize my blogging resources, tips, and contacts. Nope, I sure didn’t even touch this one. Whoops.

3. Implement branding tips from With Grace and Gold.  Done! Like I mentioned last month, I had a call with Kelly and Andra of With Grace and Gold about branding. They shared some tips on small things I can do on my blog that will make a big impact. I did make a few changes that they suggested, like streamline my blog and social media bios by using the same profile picture across the board. I also updated my about page to better reflect what you’ll find here. Finally, I created a hashtag to go with my “signature move” (something they talked about at GBS, a move that defines you and makes you stand out from the crowd): every Sunday on Instagram (I’m @shealennon, follow along!) I post about ice cream and use #icecreamsunday. Fellow ice cream lovers, I’d love for you to join me!

Fun / Family

1. Fill photo album with April pictures and print photos for May.  Done!

2. Try a new smoothie recipe. Check! I tried the Berry Green Smoothie from Damn Delicious from my Food Board. It wasn’t my favorite; I could really taste the banana and since I don’t really like bananas that’s not a good thing. Jona liked it though for the most part. I used a mix of frozen berries, so I could tell a few times when he got a strawberry or blackberry seed in his mouth because he made a face. I’m going to keep trying on the smoothies, especially for him!

3. Go somewhere new (to me) in KC. Over the weekend we went to New York Dawg Pound, a fun little hot dog joint in Shawnee, the city we live in. I wouldn’t call myself a hot dog connoisseur or anything, but it was good! I had the “Yankee Poodle” with bacon, egg, and cheese, while Aaron tried the Royal Blue (baseball season special) with grilled onions, pulled pork, barbecue sauce, and onion straws. Jona had mac and cheese.

June Goals

Goals for June 2015 | www.shealennon.com

Home

1. Frame print(s). This is the month I’ll finally get this done, I can feel it!

2. Call our Realtor. We would like to put our house on the market by the end of summer, so it’s time to get the ball rolling. There are some (hopefully minor) things that we need to fix and spruce up before we’re ready to sell, so we need to talk to our Realtor and get this house-selling party started!

Blog

1. Organize my blogging resources, tips, and contacts. Since I completely forgot about it last month, this one’s still on my list. Aaron will be happy to quit finding random blog business cards around the house once I find a place to keep everything.

2. Fix/download Photoshop Elements. Guys, this one I’m almost embarrassed to tell you about. So in March (March!) Aaron bought me Photoshop Elements as an early birthday gift. For some reason, my laptop kept crashing every time I tried to download it, and I never have figured it out. I need to chat with someone at Adobe, but when I have the time, I can’t seem to remember!

3. Do more collaborating. Like I mentioned in my May recap, I have more ideas I’d like to put in motion, I just need to take the first step. Always the hardest part.

Fun / Family

1. Fill photo album with May pictures and print photos for June. Same as every month, this one’s on the list. While I’ve been good at keeping up with this, I need to get better about using my camera (not just my phone) for monthly pictures.

2. Try a new meal/snack idea for Jona. I feel like this goal keeps popping up, but seriously, the picky eating struggle is real. I’m determined to get this boy out of his 5-approved-foods rut. Because really, yogurt and peas is NOT dinner, no matter what he thinks. (Just so you know, I offer him lots of variety at meal time, but I don’t make him something special if he doesn’t eat it. I make sure to include at least 1-2 things that I know he’ll eat.)

3. Go on a picnic as a family. Hopefully, the sun will decide to come out this month and we can go on a picnic. (Holy rain, May!)

What are your goals this month?
