Currently: April

I kid you not, I just typed "Currently: March" in the title box above. Then I realized--high five to the forehead--holy goodness, it's April! So despite my complaining about wardrobe (lack of) transitioning and wishy-washy spring, not-spring weather, March sped on by. Here are a few April things happening right now.

Currently wearing, baking, wish-listing, writing and exploring | www.shealennon.com

{wearing} flats. Without tights, mind you. Once I can ease up on the boot-wearing and slip my (bare) feet into flats on a regular basis, I know that spring is finally here. I wore most of my winter capsule all March, but once it started to warm up I couldn't help but add some springy flats into the shoe rotation.

{baking} chocolate treats. The orignal prompt was sipping, but I'm not really sipping anything special. I added "baking" instead since I seem to be on a little kick. Over the last few weeks I've made chocolate toffee cookies (adapted from this recipe),  chocolate peanut butter no-bake cookies, and a big skillet chocolate chip cookie

{wish listing} dresses. I have a few weddings to go to this spring and summer, and my "special occasion" wardrobe is pretty much nonexistent. I think a new dress (like this pretty coral one) is in order.

{writing} a media kit. One of last month's goals was to create a media kit for Shea Lennon. After consulting a couple of guides (I loved this one from Life Could be a Dream and this one from Blogger Collective) I got to work creating my own.

{exploring} nearby parks. Now that we have a fully mobile toddler on our hands, we try to take full advantage when the weather is nice. Jona wants to be outside all the time; he'll go to the door and say "Outside!" and even grab his jacket, like hint, hint mom. Luckily there are a lot of parks not too far from our house that we can take him to, where he can run and pick up sticks to his little heart's content.

What are you currently up to?

  1. Isn't it awesome to wear flats without tights?? I'm doing that today too and it makes me so happy!! The coral dress is so pretty! And Ollie would be outside all the time if we let him too. He grabs his coat and brings it to me and says "on?" I am sure he'll learn the word "outside" pretty soon too!

  2. I love the coral flats and that dress--not to mention the coral and turquoise from five years ago. Good for you for writing a media kit. Maybe someday I'll get some tips from you.

  3. That coral dress is gorgeous. I have a wedding to attend this summer, too and I will need a new dress. Would it be weird if we got the same one? ;)

  4. Thanks Elle! Glad you liked the "awards" too :)

  5. Thanks Ada, I agree about the MVPs! I do like the LBD but I don't know why I didn't wear it as much this winter. The booties are really scuffed and I can't seem to find a way to remove the scuffs from black suede. I've tried different things and nothing works!

  6. Thanks so much! Stripes are always one of my favorites. And I liked that look with the navy + burgundy too, that's one of my favorite winter color combos!

  7. Yes it is awesome--I have bare legs today too, hallelujah!! :) Aww, so cute that he grabs his coat and wants to go out too. Now that they can actually start asking for stuff it's getting to be dangerous! Cute, but dangerous :)

  8. Thanks Megan! I've been on quite the coral kick--it's been a favorite spring color of mine for years. We'll see if the Media kit gets me anywhere before I give any tips, ha!

  9. No, not at all, do it!! It's such a shame to HAVE to go shopping for a new dress, right? ;)

  13. Uh oh, I did not need to hear about that yummy baking :) Can't wait to see how your media kit turns out (so I can steal inspiration, ha!), and I love that Jona is having fun exploring. Hendrik gets really excited about going for walks these days (there are houses being built in our neighborhood, so many diggers and such to see!), which I love when it's so nice and sunny and (moderately) warm.

  14. Oh that's right, no baking for you this month, right? Eek!! Lately Jona has taken to grabbing Ellie's leash and saying " 'mon, Ellie" like he wants to take her for a walk. I'm just glad the weather's been nice enough to do more of that!

  15. I love what you said about wearing flats without tights! I'm the same way when it comes to Spring! I've done it a few times here and there but with the rain that's been around every few weeks I can't yet say that I've completely converted to Spring barefoot + flat-wearing weather. :)

  17. I adore striped anything as well - it's one of the only patterns I'll wear, haha. And I'm so with you about using a chambray shirt as a light outer layer! It's a look I wear almost every weekend! I really liked so many of these outfits - you do a great job of mixing things up but still staying true to your style.

  18. Thanks Brynn, that's sweet of you to say! Stripes are definitely my favorite pattern--I try to add variety but I always gravitate to stripes when I'm shopping!
