Plaid Dress, from Winter to Spring

Ready or not, Internet, my ghostly-white gams have emerged from their winter hibernation! I'm still in that state of in-between wondering if spring will stick around or if I should leave out my cold weather clothes just in case. The fact that I haven't yet organized my closet for spring makes my decision easy; for now I'm wearing the winter clothes because that's what I have. Laziness, proud sponsor of decision making everywhere.

While I think about spring, and think about hauling spring clothes upstairs, and think about a few things I need to purchase, I'll be giving the winter items in my closet one last hurrah. This plaid dress, for example, will be going into storage soon, so I'd like to at least get one more wear out of it. With a denim jacket, belt, and bare legs, it's able to make the transition to warmer weather.

Are you doing any wardrobe transitioning yet?

  1. Great transition! I love how you pulled this forward to spring - I bet you could do something similar as we transition back to fall later this year! I have been pulling out spring things this last week since we have also been having some warmer weather - but I've lived in Minnesota too long to trust that it's here to stay, so the winter items remain just a little longer just in case!

  2. Thanks Beth! We've gotten such nice weather here too, I love it. But I'm with you--I'm not putting away winter stuff just yet...you just never know around here!

  3. I really like the dress with the pink belt--wouldn't have thought of that. I'm starting to make the transition too, and looking at my pasty white legs thinking I could handle a bit more of winter. Love this look.

  4. Thanks Megan! I've really been wanting to add some color lately, so I just tried belts until I found one I liked! And yes, my pasty legs agree that winter could stick around. I'm not listening to them though :)

  5. I still haven't worn all of my winter clothes and now it's Spring...which I am actually 100% ok with. I love the plaid and booties, what a perfect way to transition!

  10. Aw you look great and this definitely looks like a transition outfit. Winter colors made into a spring outfit! I have all of my spring/summer clothes at home so when I go home from college, I'm definitely bringing my clothes back with me. So excited :)

  13. I'll say it yet again: cannot go wrong with a denim jacket over a dress! This really does make it feel perfect for the spring transition - kind of wintery colors/pattern, but it feels totally March appropriate with denim + bare legs. Also, even after a Bahamas week mine really are kind of shocking too :)

  16. Thanks Anne--I swear what would I DO without a denim jacket? It's my go-to for everything! I bet your Bahamas-tan is better than my Kansas-no-tan, but if your skin is like mine, even when you have a tan it's not really that tan :) Oh well.

  17. Thanks Elle! No, that's not boring--that's what I'd be doing if I could predict the weather. I just still have all my winter stuff in my closet (since I thought it would still be cold) so I have to make adjustments til I take the time to bring my spring stuff upstairs!

  18. Bare legs would be wonderful right now, but there is still a chance of snow in my forecast. Maybe April. I love the plaid dress, and it's great with the denim. The boots make for great transitional style as well.

  19. Thanks Lydia! I hope spring comes your way soon! I wouldn't be surprised if we had one more bout of winter around here before April, but this winter has been strange here, so you never know.

  20. Oh gosh, I still love this dress so much! It looks really nice with your denim jacket! I've worn dresses without tights a couple of times this spring, and it feels wonderful, ha!

  21. Thanks Brynn!! Yes, it's such a treat to finally be able to (hopefully) put the tights away. So DONE with those :)
