LBD with Light Layers

I never thought it would be this way, but I have basketball and brackets on the brain. Sure, I've always cheered my team (Kansas State) on, but this year they're not even in the thing and I'm still checking scores and watching my (two!) brackets like a hawk. I typically lose interest by the time the Final Four rolls around (usually because (a) K-State is no longer in it and (b) none of the other teams I picked are in it either). However, whatever marketing the March Madness people are doing, it's working; this arts-loving, non-athlete, would-rather-read-than-watch-sports girl is hooked.

Okay, I know some of you are like YOU TOO?! I thought I was reading blogs to escape all this basketball crap. I'm done now, I promise.

Since now spring is officially here (not that it ever really matters--the weather does what it does), I'm starting to get my closet into shape and separate it into "keep out" and "store" sections. This little black dress will be making its way to storage, simply because I'm just not wearing it much. I wore it quite a bit during the fall, but I have other dresses that feel more spring-like. However, I did want to get one more wear out of it before I put it away, so I paired it with my favorite chambray and snakeskin flats. My feet are more than ready to make the transition to spring--in with the flats, out with the boots! I'm a pedicure away from bringing out the sandals as well.

What's something you're interested in now that you never thought you would be?

  1. I love this dress!! And I adore the necklace you have on too, it's so cheery and fun! And while I'm not into the basketball I'll forgive you for talking about it :) Something I'm into now that I never thought I would be is disc golf. I can't wait for the snow to melt so we can go play again!

  2. Thanks Beth! I'm wearing this outfit at work today but I forgot to put on the necklace, dang it! :) I've never played disc golf but you make it sound fun.

  3. "this arts-loving, non-athlete, would-rather-read-than-watch-sports girl is hooked." - my husband would be so happy if i went through a similar transformation! the badgers have the #1 seat, so i should probably try and get on the MM train!

  4. Yes, my husband thinks he's managed to transform me. (Although I watch b-ball while reading blogs, etc. so I'm not sure I'm quite as big of a fan as he'd like.) But yes, go Badgers! I've been rooting for them to go pretty far. (I don't have a team in this year so I just cheer for a bunch of them.) :)

  5. I have to admit, I have never been into the games--not collage or professional, and neither football nor basketball. My husband is happy watching them without me. Love the outfit and the bright pink necklace--but I just saw that you forgot it. I do that all of the time too. I bet you still look good.

  6. I've always gotten kind of into college, just to cheer on K-State, but I didn't start doing a bracket until recently, and I think that's what made me more into it I guess. The only professional sport I like though is baseball--I've always been a Royals fan!
And thanks! I hate it when I forget to put on jewelry, but such is life I guess :) I think I'm required to forget at least one thing on Mondays.

  7. I love this light layering! Because it's cute and because it means SPRING :) And I'm a rather read than watch sports girl too, but there's nothing like getting in a bracket pool to get me interested in basketball. This year I had no mental energy for filling mine out though, so I'm really not invested in it... more fun seeing how Hendrik's doing in the family pool. We entered him by filling it out according to his animal preferences. If it goes on which he likes best, Oregon Ducks will go all the way, ha.

  9. Oh my goodness, a bracket based on animal preferences, I LOVE it. Well darn it, I think the ducks lost to the badgers over the weekend...sorry Hendrik! Jona would just be disappointed that there are no dinosaur or train mascots--those seem to be his favorite things lately. :)

  16. Fun! I like to tie my chambray in the middle too, kind of like a skirt, but it helps define my waist. Necessary for my curves. ;) I'm not a sports person... hhee XO -Alexandra
