To me, this look actually looks like fall. So it's spring, I'm wearing winter clothes but I look like fall. All I need is a summery margarita in my hand and I'd have all four seasons covered.
Do you have a distinct wardrobe for each season or do you prefer to have all your clothes available year-round? Are you like me in that the size of your closet dictates this decision?

Mmm, I love rotisserie chickens. You're so right, they can be used so many ways too--I love chicken tacos!
ReplyDeleteCute dress and the camel blazer looks so elegant with it. I also took one piece today - a turtleneck - and styled it from casual mom wear to work. =) Check it out!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday Shea!
LOL, you should have posed with a margarita, an all season look would be fun! I do really like this look even if it feels fall like, the dress is so cute! And I love that blazer. I don't have a neutral color blazer anymore and I wish I did. I might have to look for one at some point!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ada! I'll definitely check out your post on styling a turtleneck. I love versatile pieces like that!
ReplyDeleteHa, you're right I totally should have had a margarita in my hand! (Always a good idea!) I get so much wear out of this blazer and I found it in the Target clearance racks--crazy!
ReplyDeleteI think you're right that the weather of the seasons don't have a specific start and end point, so why should your wardrobe. I mix clothes throughout the year if I can. This looks great--now go get that margarita!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I WANT winter to have a definite end time, it doesn't. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Megan! No margarita tonight, but tomorrow it's dinner at a Mexican restaurant, so it's going to happen!
Such a great blazer. It fits you so well and I love it over the dress!
ReplyDeleteI love that dress on you! The blazer is such a good peice to have too!

I love to cook, but sometimes life just calls for something quick and simple! My favorite trick is to use my freezer. If we end up with leftovers, I'll either portion them out and freeze them or if there's a bunch I'll freeze it in bulk. So many times, these frozen things have come to the rescue. Burritos, mashed potatoes, mexican rice, a batch of soup, cooked ham, pasta casseroles, pizza sauce (I make my own), muffins, and the list goes on and on....
ReplyDeleteThose burrito bowls look genius!!!! I've been meaning to try some sheet pan suppers. Do you have any favorites that call for beef or pork?
I love this blazer! Some of my clothes are strictly for one season, but a lot of them are interchangeable! :)

As rules followers, it's hard to come to grips with that flexibility :) I've always had a lot of pieces that could move across seasons because I like that versatility, but I also did like completely putting away non-capsule things because looking at fewer things in my closet really felt like it was easier to pick out outfits... so now I'm working on a balance of working with the season-less aspect of many of my pieces (with no capsule "rules" to follow) but still having as much of a minimal wardrobe as I can.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, love the versatility of this blazer! So fun to have the camel color for a little something different from the usual blazer.
i see shirt dresses and never know how else to style them. great tips and another great way to style a blazer
ReplyDeleteoooh i love this! the color is so great!! I tend to not care how large my closet is and ahemm.... hoard clothing. I am doing better... purging lots these past few weeks. It feels really good. Though in general I am not a seasonal dresser. I have a very small amount that gets packed away that's considered 'spring/summer' - mostly shoes and sandals. And then TONS of sweaters and coats that I pack away... 'fall/winter'. I probably need to downsize here the most.. plus I don't wear plenty of them. I've never been too much of a seasonal dresser.. plus I'm such a sucker for layers.. which makes it all more versatile. :) XO -Alexandra

Yum! These are great tips! I love doing lots of chicken breasts all at once and shredding them up in the kitchenaid. Then its ready to use in so many things! :) XO -Alexandra

Thanks Clara! It was a great find! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren! Me too--I like having a combination of both in my closet. Keeps things interesting :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes, flexibility is something I tend to have a hard time with in general! But I agree that balance is needed--keep the number of pieces down so things don't get out of control, but also don't put items I want to wear every season away just for the sake of doing it. (Lesson learned, denim jacket that didn't stay in storage long...) I'm still trying to find that balance, which is why I'm hanging in there with the capsule for one more season. (Although this one is pretty large, number of items-wise.)
ReplyDeleteThanks Elle! I'm surprised with how versatile this shirtdress has been!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alexandra! I'm totally with you, and that's how I've been most of my life. I liked keeping my options open and putting away only the items that I really truly wouldn't wear for a particular season (like sweaters or sandals, etc.). But when I had to start sharing my teeny tiny closet with my husband when we had Jona, I just couldn't have so much stuff anymore! Stuff was literally crammed in there! It made me crazy enough to do a BIG purge. I guess I was semi-forced into giving the capsule concept a try, hehe :)
ReplyDeleteOh I'm totally with you...my freezer is such a lifesaver! I love to freeze leftovers too...nothing beats pulling out a meal and then not having to do anything but reheat i!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I want to say I tried a sheet pan supper with pork chops, but I can't for the life of me find the recipe! I believe it came from Martha Stewart's website, but I'm not sure. (Sorry, I realize that is like no help at all...)
Yes, I totally agree--I love having lots of chicken I can use in recipes.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alexandra!
lol!!! It's funny how that works sometimes! If you find it, let me know!!! :)

Oh, girl, I am all about that camel blazer! It's something that I've been looking for on and off for quite a while now, and I love how it looks with this shirt dress! I totally cheated towards the end of my winter capsule as well - when the weather doesn't cooperate with what you've got in your capsule, you have to dip into the rest of your closet! :)
ReplyDeleteTotally agreed--I can't bring myself to wear sweaters and boots when the weather calls for light layers and sandals! This blazer was such a great find--in the Target clearance racks a few years ago, such a score!
