Polka Dots, Layers, and Red (Oh My!)

Generally speaking, I'm drawn to looks that are simple, understated, and that maybe have one loud color or bold accent. Today's look, however, has multiple layers, patterns, textures AND a bold color. Wow, things just got a little crazy around here. Initially, I thought it may be too much going on, but I think it all comes together for a bold, yet cohesive, look.

Would you describe your style as understated, or are you a "more is more" kind of gal? Or maybe a little bit of both?

    I like how this came together, the layers are great! I think I do both sides of the coin, sometimes understated, sometimes more is more!

    Great look, Shea. You pulled this off with all of the neutral layers and then the bold skirt. Very cute! I'd say I'm a little bit of both--understated, but I need at least one big thing--usually a scarf.

    Thanks Megan! I had this outfit in my head and I wasn't sure that it would all come together, but I'm happy with how it did. And I'm the same way, I like to add one big or bold thing to a look too--a scarf, a statement necklace, or bright shoes.

    I agree, every once in a while it's fun to shake things up a little. And I have a feeling that I may *need* another graphic tee for spring--I wear the heck out of this one!

    Yes, a good looking/stylish shoe that's not a boot but can be worn with socks is so tricky to find - but a must for the months we can't wear our beloved flats... so I think these an especially good find!

    I am definitely an understated gal. To the point that I wonder sometimes if I am homely! So I love seeing other bloggers wearing lots of colors and layers, it inspires me! Love the outfit~!

    Thanks! No, I think it's good to change it up--it totally depends on my mood too. I feel like style is very dependent on how you feel--sometimes I want to keep it simple, other times I'm in the mood to do more "experimenting"

    I'm not a fan of puffy vests on myself (cause I'm already busty) but they look great on you! I love all the layers and how you paired everything together!

    Thanks Kari! This one is pretty puffy, so I do have to be careful not to do too many thick layers, but I like how a vest can add a finishing touch to a look.

    Oh I do too! I own vests just not puffy ones. I keep trying them on too hoping I could find one that looks good but I just don't think it's going to happen.
