Navy Puffer Vest: Warmer-upper and Finishing Touch

This navy blue puffer vest was the last thing I added to my winter capsule. I hesitated because not only was it full price, I also had to pay shipping, and I have a hard time doing both of those things. The bargain shopper in me always wants a deal. However, I'm finding that the better I am about planning my wardrobe, the more use I get out of my clothes. This vest is no exception; it's the perfect layer to add a finishing touch to an outfit and also keep me toasty warm.

Anne recently did a great round-up of looks featuring a vest, and that's where I got my inspiration for this look. If you need more vest outfit ideas be sure to check it out!

What's the last thing you splurged on?

  1. I love the vest. I think it was a good investment. I don't like paying full price or not getting a deal, either, but I will for something I know I will get a lot of wear out of for at least a few seasons! I love how you styled it and dressed it up a bit, too. The layering of the shirt and necklace is so cute!

  2. Thanks! I agree--I'm willing to spend a bit more when I know I'll wear it again and again (and so far I am!). Thank you :)

  3. Great vest, definitely worth the investment! You know I'm a sucker for good deals, but I will splurge on things like outerwear for sure. My last splurge was a new bag for work, it's stylish and functional and now that I take my laptop back and forth with me I felt like it was worth the investment!

  4. Ha, I know it, but if the weather weren't so crazy around here we wouldn't want to talk about it! Hooray for a warm weekend!
    Thanks Ashley! :)

  6. Snowwwwww! I couldn't believe the weather yesterday afternoon- popped up and got real crazy, real fast. ...But it's supposed to be 60 this weekend?

How about I just come and talk about the weather in your comments, ha. :)

A navy puffer vest is great closet staple- I have one and I'm always reaching for it!

  7. Thanks Beth! I think a bag is totally worth a splurge, especially when you use it all the time and have to tote around a laptop in it! I keep buying cheap purses and then find myself irritated when I have to keep replacing them. Silly me.

  9. Full price and shipping?! The horrors. I'm totally with you, those are my two least favorite things. But I guess it's just a sign of how much you loved and wanted this vest, and I hope it carries it's weight in your winter capsule.

  10. I know, right, it's terrible! But I do really love it and I've worn the heck out of it, so I think it's justified. :)

  11. You totally should--you deserve it! My money's gone towards a lot of gifts lately too, between birthdays and babies. I have a lot of pregnant friends right now...love it :)

  12. Oh man I loooove me some puffer vests. They are surprisingly warm even though my arms aren't covered. You look great! Stay warm out there :) I don't remember the last thing I splurged on... I'm not really a splurger. ha!

  13. Thanks Amanda! I know, I love how warm and toasty I stay in this baby! I'm not usually much of a splurger either, but every now and then... :)

  14. I'm with you on wanting something cheap and with free shipping and returns, but it looks like you did well and you'll get so much use out it. It won't be going out of style any time soon.

  22. I say it hardly counts as a splurge, you're going to wear it so much (though I agree - I HATE paying shipping). Love it with polka dots + a little sparkle! And thanks for the shoutout :)

  23. Thanks Melanie! It was nice and cozy :)

  24. Thanks Mel! I think it was worth it too, as much wear as I'm getting out of it!

  25. It was the shipping that killed me more than the full-price, really...I hate shipping costs too.
And thank YOU for all the vest inspiration that helps justify me wanting to wear this baby nonstop! :)

  26. This is so cute!! I love the polka dots. I thrifted a chambray top that is similar, but has a tie at the bottom with heart shaped polka dots and I love it. :) It goes well with everything, great with colored denim, and pattern mixes like a boss. XO -Alexandra

  27. Thanks Alexandra! I bet that chambray is cute with the heart-shaped polka dots! Chambray is so versatile, I swear it goes with everything, which I love!

  28. Hahaha, when I first was looking at this post, I thought that the polka dots on your shirt were perfectly spaced out snowflakes...I quickly realized they were, in fact, polka dots ;) I had a large puffer vest collection last year and am so regretting donating all but one of them (and the one I have is actually too big for me and I wear it only as true outerwear instead of as a part of an outfit). Booooo!
