The Dress of Many Possibilities

So far this plaid dress has been my favorite new winter capsule item. I love how it can be layered just like a button-up shirt, under sweaters and cardigans. That's always been one of the main questions I ask myself before purchasing something: "How many ways can I wear this?" I had no trouble coming up with possibilities for this dress.

How do you decide on what to buy when you're shopping?

  1. I wish I had a question like that I asked myself when shopping. Usually, I can talk myself into buying almost anything. Ha! This dress is so cute and it's really great that you are getting a ton of wear out of it!

  4. I always ask myself what all I can wear something with too when I buy it, I can't have a non-versatile type piece in my closet! I love this look with the sweater over it, it's super cute!!

  6. Thanks!! I'm pretty good at talking myself into stuff too, don't get me wrong. It's only lately that I've been more disciplined about clothes-buying. Now with ice cream...discipline goes out the window :)

Not that many layers are needed right now...hooray for this mild weather!

  9. Thanks Beth! I agree, I used to have some stragglers that wouldn't go with anything so I never wore them, but no more! It MUST be versatile :)

  11. Sooo cute with those boots. And I usually try to think about how I'll mix & match things too, but for some reason not with dresses - I tend to wear them as just dresses, but you're inspiring me here! The layering is great, and it makes it so you can actually wear a dress and stay warm in the winter...

  12. Thanks Anne! I think sometimes I expect too much out of dresses, and some dresses (like the gray one with leather accents I have from Loft) don't work as more than just a dress... so I almost passed it up. I need to realize that not everything needs to be worn a million different ways; sometimes it's nice to have a dress that's "just" a dress too.
