Working Mom Style: Formula Dressing

I'm all about finding different "formulas" that work when it comes to getting dressed. One of my go-to formulas right now is button up shirt + sweater or sweatshirt + skinny cords. Depending on the occasion, I love that this formula can easily be dressed up or down.

For a look that's slightly dressed-up but still comfortable, I added pink heels and my favorite sparkly statement necklace. I love that the components are all classic pieces: chambray shirt, v-neck sweater, corduroy pants, but there's a bit of whimsy added through the polka dot print and the fun color of the shoes.

Come back tomorrow to see a much more casual take on this same formula!

What's your go-to closet formula right now?

Polka dot chambray: J.Crew Factory / gray sweater: Gap / blue cords: Gap / sparkle necklace: Bauble Bar / pink heels: Nine West

  1. Love those pink heels! They inspired me to buy some flats in the same color. Your working mom style is perfect--comfy but stylish, especially with the necklace and shoes.

  2. Love the heels! Such a great pop and a little sassy too. And I love the cords as well - just as easy as jeans but always nice for a little something different and slightly fancier. I need to work on my mom formula for this season... had it pretty well covered for summer but it's time for a new polished but easy go-to!

  3. Thanks Anne! That's precisely why I love cords--they're different from my usual jeans, but I feel like they're a little more office-appropriate. At least for my casual office.

  4. nice outfit! cute heels and i love your sparkly neck accessory!

  5. THOSE SHOES! I love. You always look so classic and put together.

  6. Thank you, you're so sweet! :) I love a bright shoe too.

  7. jeans and a sweater are my uniform! loving the shoes!

  8. Looking chic! One of my formulas is dress+sweater+knee high boots!
