Old Clothes, New Layers

The cold weather, combined with my paltry selection of pants, led me to finally break out my tights. I'd been neglecting my skirts and dresses, so it's nice to wear them again (without freezing my legs off). With tights and lots of layers, I'm even able to cozy up this summery striped dress.

I love how layering can give your closet so many more  possibilities. On their own, I've worn these pieces dozens of times or more, but until now I never thought to combine them all quite like this. It's refreshing to still be able to give new life to things I feel like I've worn a million times.

What are your favorite layering combos?

Orange blazer: Target (similar) / gray gingham shirt: J.Crew Factory (similar in navy) / navy stripe dress: Land's End Canvas (similar) / tights: Target / brown riding boots: Mia (similar)

  3. That's some impressive layering! I'm starting to pile stuff on in new combinations too - it's so much colder than normal that I'm having to wear all the fall clothes at once. I guess we should just look at it as an opportunity :)

  4. i'm always impressed by people who manage to make dresses look like skirts and tops -- such an easy way to diverse your closet. BONUS? that dress deserves to be worn both ways - it's so cute!

  5. Yes, it was finally time to pull out the tights, much to my dismay. Love that you've taken these summer pieces and transitioned them into fall.

  8. Thanks! But yes, I hadn't planned on wearing all these clothes together WITH tights AND boots (and a frigging coat) just yet. I want fall back! You're right though...it's an opportunity. :)

  10. Thanks Lydia! I know, I was sad to have to do it, I was hoping to go tights free until the end of November.... oh well.

  13. I absolutely love everything about this look! The bright blazer is just so fun! I think I have a few pieces to pull off something similar so I just might have to try. Layers are seriously the best.

  15. I love how creative you have been layering shirt over dress by leaving some buttons open and tying in knot. I have soft spot for stripes, they're so timeless and versatile. Red, white and black are classics and elegant. Gorgeous look.
