Currently: November

Oh hey November! I love that whole Thanksgiving thing you’ve got going on, but can we quit with the evenings that get dark at 5pm? That would be great, thanks.

Other than talking to the month like a person, here are a few other (less crazy) things I’m up to now. Joining in the monthly linkup with Anne and Jenna

Reading: The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. After last month’s “book report” linkup, there were so many books I added to my “to-read” list after seeing other bloggers’ recommendations. This is one such book, and I can’t for the life of me remember whose recommendation it was! Last year I read The Secret Keeper also by Kate Morton and loved it. I’m so glad I picked this one up as well. Being able to escape with a good book make these shortened days a little more bearable.

Wishlisting: Coats! I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I’m on the hunt for a bright new coat this year. I haven’t decided on a color just yet, but I’m thinking mustard yellow, plummy purple or maybe bold red

Loving: Gratitude Month. Sometimes, I’m not okay with holidays starting early (like when stores pull out all the Valentine’s Day decor on December 26th), but when it comes to Thanksgiving, I’m totally down with the whole month of November being all about gratitude. Sure, I aim to be grateful all year long, but it’s nice to have a month that’s full of reminders. I love this 30 Days of Gratitude challenge from Glitter Guide, and I’m also joining my church in the challenge (kicked off this month) of doing 100 acts of kindness in a year’s time.

Appreciating: my husband. Sometimes life gets so busy and stressful that I don’t think twice about how lucky I am to have a husband like Aaron. He does more than his fair share around the house, he’s an amazing dad to Jona, and for over four years now (!) he’s been willing to go outside and take my outfit picture whenever I ask him to…and if that’s not love, I don’t know what is!

Creating: November Goals. In an effort to be better about getting things done, I’m taking time at the beginning of every month to outline a few goals for work, home, and blogging. Then I’m breaking them down even further and jotting down a few things I’d like to accomplish each week. Last month I did a so-so job of meeting my goals, especially for home and blogging, but I’m hoping this month will be better. My job is very task-oriented, so I find that it’s very hard to have that same mentality when it comes to my home- and blog-life. Any tips on motivating yourself to complete non-work goals?

What are you up to so far this month?
