Weekly Eats: Halloween Treats

Happy Halloween! I may not have done much decorating, but I did make a couple of Halloween-themed treats this week.

1. Sugar cookies with vanilla buttercream frosting. I already had a pumpkin cookie cutter, and made a makeshift ghost by cutting the bottom off a bell and using chocolate chips for eyes.

2. Cemetary Cookie Dessert from My Recipes. I did something that goes against everything I stand for (okay, that may be a bit dramatic) and used the "frozen whipped topping" this recipe called for. I hate that stuff. I always whip my own cream because it's so dang easy and tastes a million times better. But I'm tired, fighting a cold, and I just needed to be lazy here, okay? Not that I think you're lazy if you're a Cool Whip fan. It's just not my thing. I'm lazy in a lot of other ways, believe me. Anyway, this is a fun, easy, tasty Halloween treat!

Did you make any Halloween-themed treats this week?

P.S. I'll share our Halloween costumes next week. "Lazy" is a key component for that one too.

  1. Clever cookie cutter reuse :) I'm still eating leftover birthday cake, so trying to avoid the Halloween stuff, ha!

  2. Mmm, leftover cake is good too. I think by the end of the weekend I'll be in some sort of sugar coma!

  3. Yum! My mom made similar butter cookies last week and they were so good! The cemetery dessert looks really good! I didn't really do any Halloween baking. I bought candy, does that count? PS - I gave you the Liebster award on my blog today, I'm sure you've had it before, maybe even from me, but I felt like sharing the love!

  4. Hey, thanks Beth! I'll come check it out :) And yes, the candy definitely counts. We bought candy too...we're apparently trying to meet some kind of sugar quota it seems. Oops!
