Gray Checked Shirt: Then & Now

This weekend struck the perfect balance between productive, relaxing, and fun. In addition to the usual weekend laundry and grocery store chores, I also managed to do some cleaning and write in Jona's long-neglected baby book. To relax, I treated myself with a little nap on Sunday, since Jona decided to take an epic nap himself. There was lots of fun actually--baseball watching, s'mores bar baking (also during the epic nap--I'll share those soon), and blog workshop attending (stay tuned for more on that as well). Hooray weekend!

But now it's Monday, and it's time for another remix. Here's one of my favorite shirts styled for summer and fall.

How did you spend your weekend?

It was pretty chilly on Friday, so it was the perfect weather for this week's Inspiration Monday look from Two Birds. I double up denim quite a bit with my chambray shirt, but for some reason less often with my jean jacket. I think it's a contrast thing for me, so now that I have this super-dark pair of skinnies, I think I'll be doing more denim doubling.

Denim jacket: Gap (similar) / gray check shirt: J.Crew Factory (similar in navy) / skinny jeans: Gap / booties: Target (similar - love this pair)

  3. Thanks Megan! Hopefully I'll get some decent pics and share them soon :) (they're so gooey/messy that they may not be too pretty to look at!)

  4. Thanks Beth! I'm not sure Oliver needs any tips from Jona--that much napping is pretty rare around here! But hey, I'll take it!

  5. Such a cute plaid top! I really like both ways that you styled it! And s'mores bars sound AMAZING! I've been meaning to try a recipe for them that I came across on Pinterest!

  9. Hooray, sounds like an excellent weekend! I must say, I could go for an epic (baby) nap myself - baking and blog stuff sounds like a treat.

I'm with you on the denim doubling - chambray is one thing, but denim jackets another... however, I thought these jeans were black at first glance, so I definitely say they're dark enough to work. Can't go wrong with layering gingham underneath!

  10. True, I often go for double denim with chambray over my denim jacket, but this look does show it works so well.
Glad you had a relaxing and productive weekend!

  11. Yes, it was! Those epic naps are few and far between, so I try to take advantage!
And yes, they are really dark--in fact I almost bought black too but decided against it since these are so close.

  12. Thanks! I do love chambray too though, so I'm sure I'll still get plenty of wear out of that :)
