Motivational Dressing: Stripes, Dots, Pink

It wasn't easy to get up and go to work after being home with Jona for the past day and a half. In order to make myself feel more motivated and pumped (ha!) about going to the office, I put a little extra snazz in my outfit, in the form of mixed patterns and bright shoes. While I can't say that I'm as enthused as the kangaroo in the Dish commercial ("Hey boss! I love working!"), I do feel put-together and professional in this outfit.

I'm a total believer in the "fake it 'til you make it" method of motivating myself, so I figure if I look like I'm ready to work, maybe I'll start to feel that way too! What are your "tricks" for motivating yourself?

Polka dot chambray: J.Crew Factory (other dotted option) / stripe pencil skirt: Loft (similar) / pink pumps: Nine West

  5. Yes, it is hard to go back after extra days with the kiddos! I love this outfit though! I agree with the fake it till you make it mode of thinking! And I love the color of your shoes, very pretty :)

  8. I totally agree, clothing can be a mood-changer for sure. Thanks--when I bought them (online) I thought they would be purple, but I was pretty happy with the pinkish color when I got them!

  11. Yet another yummy sounding quinoa dish to add to my list... in fact I think I probably have it pinned already but just have never gotten around to it. This is the push I need, I guess! After being away for 5 nights, I'm ready to get back into some yummy home-cooked meals.

  12. Oh man, I know what you mean about the jeans that you like when you put on but HATE by the time you finish the day... Got rid of several of those in the pre-capsule purge and don't miss 'em.

Somehow I've still never acquired one of these vests and I'm jealous every time I see outfits with them - both of these are so easy and great but of course I'm partial to the stripes.

  13. Ooh, fun bag. So far so good on the neutrals for me too - I do love a colored accessory as well! And this tee - looks great with the jeans and skirt.

  14. Yes, and yes. Super cute together of course, but especially with the addition of the fun flats!

  15. Love the Jona photos! And you're kinda killing me with those brownies. Making me happy: this post might be the mid-week pick-me-up (I seriously needed one too this week), but I'm reading it on Friday. Hello, weekend! Tomorrow I have a babysitter while Peter works for some "me" time, so I've been looking forward to Saturday all week :) Hope you have a great one too and come back refreshed!

  16. This is a great color - I like how it's just as easy to wear as dark denim, but is a little something different.

  17. Thanks! Yes, I was going for a non-denim denim substitute :)

  18. Oh nice, I hope you enjoy your "me" time tomorrow!! I've been thinking about scheduling a day off sometime soon to do the same thing.

  19. Thanks! I've been pleasantly surprised by all the neutrals too. I don't think I took into account how much accessories can really change things up.

  20. Oh yes, I definitely recommend this one. SO good. When the husband goes back for seconds and even Jona is trying to cram little quinoa bits (grains?) into his mouth, I knew it was a winner! :)
