Comfort in Weather and Food

La mode: Don’t you love weekends just before fall? The weather was so beautiful: not yet too chilly but definitely not too warm. While I’m slowly breaking out my fall clothes, I keep reminding myself that it’s technically still summer for a few more weeks. For that reason, I felt perfectly content wearing a summery white blouse paired with pretty shades of coral.

Blouse: Loft; jeans: Loft; cardigan (pictured below): Merona, Target; necklace: Oh Sweetlee Me via Much Love, Illy giveaway; belt: Old Navy; shoes, Gap

This outfit was inspired by the picture below of Rachel Bilson, who was this week’s pick for Inspiration Monday at Two Birds. While I’m not a big follower of celebrity fashion, Rachel Bilson’s quirky, creative style has caught my eye more than once.

I wore this running errands on Saturday, so I kept it casual with a comfy pair of flats. Also, I topped this look with a printed cardigan that compliments my belt so I wouldn’t freeze to death in the grocery store. That dairy section can be brutal!

La nourriture: One of my favorite comfort dishes is a baked pasta casserole made with penne pasta, ground beef, marinara sauce, and lots of oozy, gooey cheese. It goes without saying that this is also a favorite of Aaron’s.

I found this recipe several years ago on All Recipes, and it’s one I keep going back to. I make very few changes to the recipe; I use shredded cheese rather than sliced, and penne or rigatoni rather than ziti. However, I believe that this recipe could easily be adapted to fit any appetite. (It would still taste delicious without the beef, or with ground turkey, for example.)
