The Cs of Summer: Cardigans and Corn on the Cob

Wearing: It’s beginning to feel like summer around here, so I lived in shorts this weekend. And after last weekend’s rain and chilly temperatures, I was ready for the heat.

Tell me you’re like me and you have to bring a sweater wherever you go during the summer, because you're constantly being blasted with air conditioning. I find it to be a constant battle: I want to dress for the warm, sunny weather but I don’t want to be miserable in the meat locker-like temperatures of the indoors. Do I just have the body temperature of an eighty-five year old woman, or do you feel my pain?

Cardigan: Loft; printed tee: Forever 21; jean shorts: Loft; brown braid belt: Loft; platform sandals: Mia

This is why my ever-growing collection of cardigans is my best friend no matter the season. This slightly sheer, lightweight version from Loft (last year) is perfect for this time of year. Paired with shorts and platform sandals I still feel nice and summery. (And no, I'm not going for "bedroom eyes" in the photo below, I'm just trying not to squint.)

Eating: I’m all about honesty here on Bon Chic Bon Gastronomique, and I’m not going to pretend that the Gastronomique part of this post was a total home run. Last night I made cod for dinner, and it was a fairly new fish-eating (and cooking) experience for me. Well, Aaron and I both learned that cod is not our favorite fish.

However, I think with another fish, I would have really liked this, which is why I’ll share it with you. The sugar and spice coating had great flavor, and the citrus sauce tasted wonderful. It was just the fish itself that wasn’t my thing. The other reason I’m sharing this with you (other than continuing to showcase my awkward food photography) is the corn. Three words: honey chili butter. If you’re not sold I don’t think we can be friends.

The recipe for the fish is from Kraft’s website (here) and the corn and honey butter is from Budget Bytes blog (here).
