I Love You Madly, Madly Madam Librarian

I felt like a librarian today in this outfit. Which, if it were 1962, I think I would love to be a librarian. I love books, I love organizing things... sounds like a good fit to me! However, this little thing we're obsessed with now called technology lessens the appeal of the librarian's job. When I was researching for my master's classes, I was overwhelmed by the countless sources available online. Trying to find the perfect sources for my research papers, whether they were about the feminine voice in French writing or the role of culture in second language learning (or anything in between), made me go a little batty. So if I had to maneuver through the world of online resources everyday, you can only imagine how crazy I'd be. It's a bummer though, because I sure do love books.

Speaking of this love of mine, I'm now reading Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews, about a crazy mother who locks her children in the attic. It's quite a feel-good story. It's also pretty hard to put down. I just started it last night, and already those poor kids have been in the attic for a year.

Blouse: Nine West, Marshall's (old!); cardigan: NY & Co; skirt: Converse One Star for Target; earrings: NY & Co; tights: target; shoes: Issac Mizrahi for Target (speaking of Target, best commercials ever right now, don't you think?)

Song: Marian the Librarian from the musical The Music Man

By the way, was this post nerdy enough for you? Sorry about that--sometimes I can't keep it in.

  1. Love the polka dot tights, it's all super cute. Flowers in the Attic - read that years (decades? ha!) ago, it's a little disturbing towards the end from what I remember. Of course it's been a long time :oP

  2. Love your outfit!
Please check out/follow my blog. Love yours!

  3. I love VC Andrews! Read all her books in High School! Ah memories... Speaking of memories - we also did Music Man in HS and your out fit is totally more chic and stylish then the one Marion wore! :) It actually looks like a top Rachel Ray wore on her show the other day!

  4. LOVE that book...and this outfit? totally cool hunnie!! One of my favs of yours:)

    Happy Friday!!!

Stop by and say Hello ♥
I’m the MTV Style Blogger of the Week!!!

  5. cute outfit and nice blog:))
    check out mine http://rayabo.blogspot.com/

  6. You are a hot librarian! I also love books, but am overwhelmed by all the technology involved in libraries these days. Give me a card rack and the Dewey Decimal system any day!

  7. I have those tights from target too! I really like them with the denim skirt and black/cream color combo. And I've been wanting to read that book for a while now, maybe I'll pick it up during Christmas break.

  8. You look so pretty! And those tights are just the icing on the cake.

Please let us know how you like the book - I've been thinking about reading it for a while but haven't gotten around to it.

  9. I adore the Music Man! And I have a pair of polka dot tights in my Nordstrom cart right now!

  10. you look completely awesome here. I adore this look. I think the sexy tights make it so it isn't so much stuffy librarian as hot librarian.

Oh, and that book! My best friend and I were OBSESSED with V.C. Andrews when we were teenagers. As for a feel good story? I think you will find it rather disturbing in the end (I'm alluding to anyone dying or anything...It's just sort of creepy and disturbing is all). It's actually a part of a series.

Anyway, if you like it I recommend another series by her, Heaven, which I just LOVED. She has quite a few series, but Heaven and Flowers are the best. And be careful, because some of the books are actually not written by her but just under her name posthumously and are not close to as good (guilty pleasure reading I call it).

Have you read The Glass Castle?

    Okay. Comment officially too long.

  11. Loving the funky, stylish librarian look!

  12. I need more Marian. For reals. I love the Music Man.
