Dinner Last Night: Lemony Shrimp Spaghetti

I made Aaron dinner last night for his birthday, and he requested a garlicky pasta dish with shrimp.  I thought this Linguine with Shrimp and Lemon Oil recipe from Giada de Laurentiis' cookbook Giada's Kitchen (recipe also found here) fit the bill.  Aaron wanted spaghetti instead, and he wanted me to leave out the arugula that the recipe called for.  What does he think this is, his birthday dinner? Oh, wait.  Anyway, he gave it two thumbs up (it's hard to talk with a mouth full of shrimp) and I devoured the pasta.  I had a couple of shrimp but to be honest, they're not my favorite.  

Oh, and the yellow cake I mentioned before? Well, first of all it didn't turn out yellow, and secondly the frosting was embarrassing.  When you're too lazy to sift the powdered sugar, it comes out a little lumpy.  So, I won't be posting any pictures of that disappointment on the blog.  But, on the upside, Aaron not only had a piece that night, but has had at least two more pieces since (and one was for breakfast).  So if he likes it, I'm happy.

    Sorry about the cake. I made a pie for the 4th of july that DID NOT turn out. It never set, but tasted okay.
